03 / THE VEHICLE
An old soul.
A few quirks.
These are real oldtimer utility Jeeps, around 30–40 years old.
We maintain them with care, but their age means mechanical issues can happen. Choose suitable roads, pay attention to how the Jeep feels and stop somewhere safe if something seems wrong.
For longer journeys to West Sumba, we recommend considering a modern vehicle through RentSumba’s rental website. West Sumba travel is possible, but is not recommended for these vintage Jeeps.
Come prepared, take it sensibly and ask for help when you need it. Leave repairs or tricky recoveries to people who know how to handle them safely.
KNOW YOUR RANGE
A little preparation.
A lot of freedom.
Free assistance is available within approximately two hours’ driving time of our base in Waingapu. This is a driving-time limit, not a fixed geographical radius. Outside this zone, rescue or assistance required for any reason carries a minimum fee of IDR 1,500,000, including mechanical problems. The fee is a minimum; additional costs may depend on distance, access, recovery complexity and third-party services. Assistance depends on accessibility, staff availability and local conditions; immediate rescue is not guaranteed. Confirm your proposed route with RentSumba before departure.

Our Jeeps are maintained, but at around 30–40 years old they can still have mechanical surprises. Let’s plan a route that suits them. Mechanics and spare parts can be harder to find beyond greater Waingapu.
